I first got my hands on clay some twenty years ago at evening class. Trained as a graphic designer, I spent my early career in packaging design, and the versatility and design possibilities of working in clay held immediate fascination.
I enjoy the disciplines and challenges of making both functional ware and decorative ceramic sculptures.

Learning to acquire just some of the vast range of handling and technical skills involved has been intriguing, demanding, rewarding, disappointing, exciting and frustrating - and all stages in between.
Best of all, the experience of making has given me a heightened enjoyment and appreciation of the work of others, both past and present.
The possibility of being able to pass on a little of this enjoyment through my own work is what motivates me as a maker.
